Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The Operations and Maintenance Department works to extend the life of University buildings, protect and maintain University assets, assist with construction projects and promote environmental sustainability. A diverse team comprised of craftsmen work to ensure a safe, comfortable and pleasant working and learning environment for our students staff and visitors.

Primary Purpose of Position

Perform preventive maintenance, repair, replacement and installation on plumbing system and fixtures such as, but not limited to, water heaters, water coolers, ice makers, boilers, chill water piping and dishwashers. Position will involve working with individuals with diverse backgrounds.

Key Function Installing
Job duties performed for the above function

Install and maintain a variety of plumbing systems such as, but not limited to, sanitary waste, storm drains, water distribution, irrigation, sprinkler systems, air lines, gas piping and steam piping.

Key Function Operating Equipment
Job duties performed for the above function

Operating, Tools & Equipment
Operate tools and equipment such as, but not limited, to pipe cutters, reamer, thread and sewer machines.

Key Function Repairing
Job duties performed for the above function

Repair and replace plumbing systems including, but not limited to, pneumatic steam valves, radiator valves, traps, and steam and condensate pipes, hot water pumps, chilled water pumps, sump pumps, sewage pumps, gas piping, water lines and irrigation.

Key Function Inspection
Job duties performed for the above function

Inspect, test, and repair plumbing systems including, but not limited to, all sizes of back-flow prevention devices, waste circulating systems, and chemical feed systems.

Key Function Troubleshooting
Job duties performed for the above function

Troubleshoot and repair plumbing systems, including, but not limited to, steam, water, and gas utility distribution systems.

Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes workplace safety.
